Gliding in Mauterndorf

With 1110m the airfield Mauterndorf is the highest gliding airfield of Austria and the ideal starting point for long distance gliding. Club members as well as guests appreciate the familial atmosphere.

Our airfield offers aerotow as well as winch launch operation under suitable weather conditions. Even during midsummer we are lucky to provide release heights of 600m ensuring thermic flights. The Aviation Club Lungau (“Sportfliegerclub Lungau”) was founded in 1964 by enthusiastic aviators. In foehn conditions we operate by winch launch. In these distinctive weather conditions our guests experience unforgettable foehn glides and and primary waves.
